10 Majorly Cool Apps Every Witch Needs to Have

Technology has changed the landscape for practicing witches. Whether you are using a flameless candle or even simply Google metaphysical shops near you, it’s not hard to admit that the realm of witchcraft has changed drastically since our ancestor’s time.

One of our favorite ways to use modern advances to simplify our craft is through apps. After all, there is supposedly an app for everything. Here are just some of our go-to mobile apps for witchy needs.

#1. AstrologyZone

Susan Miller is one of the OG Astrology gurus. For over 22 years, she has been offering insights in the form of horoscopes. Luckily for us, this knowledge is available to the public in app form. Astrology Zone is an award-winning horoscope app that offers accurate daily and monthly horoscopes, compatibility reports, essays, and more. There is both a free and premium version of this app, the biggest difference being the paid version will give users access to more comprehensive horoscopes as well as Susan’s essays on Mercury retrograde, eclipses, compatibility reports, and the controversial 13th sign.

Available for iOS and Android.

#2. Astro Future

If you’re anything like us, you have friends, family, and even clients asking for their astrology charts read all of the time. Astro Future has been a godsend for keeping all of these different charts organized and in one place. Not only does the app categorize these natal charts based on groupings, but they also offer different chart options such as transit, synastry, and compatibility. The app is also interactive and you can tap on different aspects to understand their meaning more deeply. We personally love that you can add asteroids like Black Moon Lilith and Chiron to your charts. After all, everyone loves some good asteroid insights.

Available on iOS, including Apple Watch.

#3. Golden Thread

As the app description says best, “Golden Thread Tarot is a modern approach to an ancient tradition.” Golden Thread is like having an on-the-go digital deck and guide that allows witches to use the power of Tarot in the palm of their hands. Most of us here at Nerd Coven reference this app for their daily mirror readings, which can give insight to themes the upcoming day may have. It can also be used as a reference app for physical decks with their sortable and searchable card database. Also make sure to check out Golden Thread’s companion app, Labyrinthos.

Available for iOS and Android.

#4. Moon Calendar

There are a ton of moon-related apps out there. None of them seem to be as well rounded as Moon Calendar. We initially were drawn to the app for their use of moon astrology and monthly lunar cycle insights. However, we’re highly impressed with their self-care suggestions rituals that go with daily moon patterns. Plus, it all syncs with your phone’s calendar. There is a paid subscription version of the app that allows you to view past and future dates, create journal entries, set intentions and goals, and browse rituals, recipes, and tools

Available on iOS.

Bonus: My Moon Phase for their easy to use push notifications or Moon for…well…just download it and find out.

#5. ReikiOne

Reiki is a practice that we admit we can be better at. That’s why we like ReikiOne as an all-in-one Reiki app:

“The app has everything including Reiki music, positions for practices and a built-in timer. In Reiki, everything is important, even the colors of your app, and here you can set it as you need. The app is said to be a perfect aid both for beginners and experienced practitioners. [Additionally], ReikiOne provides a good system of motivation and reminds you to take a moment and have a hands-on healing practice wherever you are.”

Available on iOS.

#6. Co-Star

Co-Star labels themselves as the first ever AI-powered astrology app. That’s not the reason we like it though. We adore their blunt accuracy and reflective advice. The app features planet-by-planet compatibility, real-time planet updates, access to friend’s charts, and more. It simplifies your sun, moon, and other planetary placements so both beginners and long-time astrologist can navigate their charts with ease. Plus, a ton of news outlets sort of rave about it… just in case you don’t trust our judgment alone.

Available for iOS (coming soon to Android).

#7. The Pattern

We’re not going to lie, the hype for this one is real. Our team first heard about The Pattern from the famous Channing Tatum freak out and had to see what this was all about. The Pattern is a social network that helps you better understand yourself and connect with others on a deeper level. Using your chart’s aspects and transit for fuel, the app offers insights about your personality, current events, and more. The Pattern also connects you to friends and romantic partners, offering additional insights and summaries on their happenings. Our only complaint is that they don’t specify what transits and aspects they’re referring to, which is a little frustrating for astrologist wanting to learn.

Available on iOS.

#8. Time Passages

An important aspect in astrology that is often overlooked is current planetary placements. Here at Nerd Coven, we tend to say like “I’M HAVING A BAD DAY. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE STARS?” That’s where Time Passages comes in handy. Find out what the current planet’s positions are and what that means for you and others around you. It’s also a handy tool for customizing how you like to read saved charts through aspect options, chart points, and other visual displays. The reason we don’t recommend it for saving other’s charts is because they don’t offer free, unlimited charts. However, that is an option you can explore. In fact, there are too many cool paid features for us to even cover.

Available for iOS.

#9. ChakraMeditation

Chakra healing is a big topic for us in the Nerd Coven team. Often, we find ourselves using this app in our meditation practice to help balance our Chakras. As the creators explain best, “Each Chakra is associated with different colors and different sounds. Certain stones can tune your Chakras and allow energy to flow through them. The same can be done with certain wave frequencies. Chakra Meditation was devised and studied to help you tune your Chakras through meditation.” The app also features a detailed information page on each of the Chakras. Plus, the developers of the app believe in the importance of what they’re doing so much, they’re dedicated to keeping the app free. We can majorly respect that dedication.

Available for iOS.

#10. Stone

As a group of crystal obsessed witches, we can say STONE is honestly a nearly perfect digital crystal guide. STONE is an app elegant in design and intuitive in navigation. If you want to identify crystals by looks, you can navigate the app by the beautifully captured crystal photographs. Users can also search crystals by “vibe” or name for additional functionality. Once you’ve identified your crystal, you can read up on it through the app’s short-and-sweet descriptions. Our only complaint would be that some of the copy can be vague in nature, but perhaps that’s the point.

Available for iOS.
